There is NO Crying at Disneyland

That was our family motto yesterday at the "Happiest Place on Earth:" NO crying. It sort of worked.
Our recipe for some quality family time:
Combine an ample amount of Halloween candy with a very late night.
Add waking up early and the excitement of a surprise trip to Disneyland.
Mix together two determined, yet skeptical parents.
Toss in a couple of bickering sisters.
Vigorously stir in an almost 3 year old with a tendency to bolt at full throttle with no warning.
Gently fold in an innocent 5 month old who simply wants to be held all day long.
Just for good measure, add a pinch of terrified moments, including but not limited to: sobbing, cowering, and begging to get off, on rides that resulted in uncontrollable giggling LAST year.
Sprinkle with "It's a Small World" unless it happens to be closed for Christmas decorating,
and serve with the parade that never was.
Enjoy!
But hey, it was fun. Really. I bet it will be even more fun the next time we go...when our kids are teenagers.

Ginge~ You are way too clever. How long did it take you to write that? It better have taken all day. Great pics! Makes me miss CA!!!

nope, it actually flowed like cake batter :) because it's all so accurate, it didn't take much imagination! sad, but true.

Seriously... why are you not a writer?
You should have waited for me to come home during Thanksgiving and come along to help :)

Wendy-- now THAT would have been brilliant. Really, it was a good time to go because there was an unusual "no school" day and it was the day after Halloween. For both of these reasons it was a very GOOD idea to go now and not later in the month. Bringing Brady along was the BAD idea. Jason and I have est. a new family rule-- you must be at least 4 years old for a D-land trip.

What? No electrical parade? Ging, you really do have a way with words. I love to see your clever words on my blog too. :) Next time, we'll watch the babes!

Hey Ginger - I know what you mean! The first year we went to Disneyland, Kylie was 3, Larkin was almost 2 and Matthew was barely 1. We had taken them to the zoo the week before sort of as a pre-qualifier and Larkin failed, so we left her with a friend the day we went to Disneyland. We've been back since with much more success, but it's always so exhausting! We plan to go again in 2008, but one or more kids may be left behind. :)

Very creative recipe! Fun to read, but challening to implement. The kids will probably remember the trip fondly.

It was fun to run in to you there! We had some of those same ingredients... and my kids are a bit older! How do you suppose they came up with that name anyhow.. "Happiest" place on earth. Not always so! J/K Actually, I LOVE Disneyland. My kids love it too. We have passes and enjoy a lot of family time together there. Going day after Halloween has its pros and cons. though. Tired, sugared-up kids not too great. The small crowds and short lines were definitely a plus! Love your post! You're so cute!
